Day of Shecurity events are built upon the foundational belief of being inclusive and welcoming to anyone regardless of gender, ethnicity, and educational background. Our conferences have adopted a “Code of Conduct” for all Day of Shecurity Conferences & Day of Shecurity Presents Events.

Conference Code of Conduct

The Day of Shecurity conference code of conduct is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, including panelists, sponsors, presenters, and attendees in-person and online. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience. We thank our attendees for their help in keeping the event welcoming, respectful, and friendly to all participants.

Expected Behavior

We invite all sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and other participants to help us realize a safe and positive conference experience for everyone. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to panelists, sponsors, and other attendees throughout any conference and at all conference events.

  • Be considerate and respectful when asking questions of panelists and speaking to conference attendees.

  • Refrain from using demeaning or harassing behavior and speech.

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants. Alert conference staff if you notice a dangerous situation, see someone in distress, or have any concerns.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include: intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct by any attendees or panelists at conferences and related events. Harassment includes but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking or following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and inappropriate physical contact. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

While healthy, participatory discourse is encouraged, we will not tolerate abusive, badgering, or baiting arguments, whether during a session or otherwise. Disrupting the presentation of any individual will be grounds for immediate dismissal. Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave our conferences without a refund at the sole discretion of the conference organizers.

Spamming of chat channels - Slack, Bizzabo, or another platform - is prohibited. Posting in multiple channels, stages, or chats may draw attention from the presentation at hand and should be avoided. Participants asked to stop any spamming behavior are expected to comply immediately and failure to do so will result in that participant being removed from the various channels.

Posting any of the following in our spaces is grounds for removal:

  • Remarks that demean a group of people including but not limited to those that are racist, sexist, homophobic, etc.

  • Politically-motivated instigation

  • Unwanted social advances
