Matt Torbin is an Application Security Engineer for Opendoor and the concept creator behind Day of Shecurity. As a multi-faceted technologist with almost twenty years in the industry, Matt Torbin has had a direct impact on almost every aspect of the software development lifecycle. Early in his career, Matt worked as a front-end, full stack engineer specializing in UI/UX. During this time he was involved in both development as well as testing efforts which included quality and security efforts. Recently, he completed a career transition to information security. In his free time, he is passionate about promoting equality in the industry and offering mentorship to young technologists.“
Laura Buitrago is a Web Developer at Lookout, and currently chair of Lookout's Diversity Steering Committee. Previously a Teacher, Photographer, and Student Science Specialist, she made the transition to Web Development in 2015. Laura is Colombian-American and is passionate about the inclusion of Women and People of Color in tech. Laura loves to travel and has lived in 4 different countries / continents.
Amy is an Innovative Product Designer, Graphic Designer and Illustrator with an eye for detail. She is currently working as a Product Designer at Lookout. Prior to Lookout, Amy was helping small businesses & entrepreneurs achieve their goal with design strategy and User-Centered Design process in Taiwan and San Francisco. As a brainstormer and stuff maker, I am always looking forward to working with people with a wide range of backgrounds.
Deidre Diamond is the CEO and Founder of CyberSN.com, a cybersecurity research and staffing company, and the Founder of brainbabe.org, a cybersecurity not-for-profit organization. Deidre’s vision and leadership has resulted in a dramatic decrease in the frustration, time and cost associated with job searching and hiring for cybersecurity professionals. Prior to CyberSN, Deidre was the CEO of Percussion Software, the first VP of Sales at Rapid7 (NYSE:RPD) and the VP of Staffing and Recruiting for the national technical staffing company Motion Recruitment. Deidre leads with a strong commitment to transparency, equality, training, support, high-productivity and love in the workforce.
Lisa Kendall is the Media and Marketing Manager for CyberSN (cybersn.com) a cybersecurity staffing, technology and research firm and she also manages the marketing for Brainbabe (brainbabe.org), a not-for-profit working to bridge the cybersecurity talent gap. Kendall has a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara in Women’s Studies, a background in technical recruiting, sales, and non-profit fund-raising and a passion for supporting women in business. She sits on the board of Technology Diversified, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing education and resources that promote employment, peer-support, diversity, and inclusion in technology. She believes in creating teams with healthy workplace cultures, retention and happiness.
Kyle is a Social Cybersecurity expert and President of Secure Diversity by Brainbabe.org a non-for-profit championing the need to bring more diverse humans into the cybersecurity workforce. A former Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Security Officer and Chief Business Security Officer, Kyle understands the need to create, cultivate and empower a diverse workforce in all disciplines within an organization - especially cybersecurity teams.
With over 20 years of experience in the information technology, technology, cybersecurity, and federal agency fields, and degrees in Sociology, Master of Business Administration, and Masters of Home Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Kyle’s multidisciplinary background serves him well and is an example of educational diversity in action. The lack of women & under-represented minorities in cybersecurity is not only a national security issue - it is a global security issue. Kyle joins Day of Shecurity as General Manager and a Core Team Member.
Tad Whitaker is a security engineer at CircleCI and a core member of the Bay Area OWASP leadership that hosts bi-monthly security MeetUps in San Francisco. Prior to engineering, he was a licensed private investigator, newspaper reporter and gold miner. Outside work, he has volunteered with the Wall of Sheep at Defcon, Mission Bit, Telegraph Academy, San Francisco Youth Baseball League, the computer labs at Argonne and Presidio public schools, and Burning Man, where he helped establish the drone program (flight policies, registration of pilots and enforcement). Ska music, endurance sports and funny kid stories are his entry points.
